Picrodendraceae
is a small family characterised by having only one perianth
whorl and ovaries with (usually) two ovules per
chamber. In Tasmania the family has two genera,
Micrantheum and Pseudanthus, each with two
species.
All four Tasmanian species are monoecious (i.e. with
separate male and female flowers on the same plant).
Of the other genera previously included in Euphorbiaceae, Amperea,
Bertya, Beyeria, Euphorbia, Ricinocarpus are
retained in Euphorbiaceae,
but Phyllanthus and Poranthera are now
included in Phyllanthaceae.
