Uncinia (Cyperaceae) 4b:139 Uncinia (hookgrass or hooksedge) are quite conspicuous components of Tasmania's flora and are represented by six native species. They are most common in the understorey of wet forests or in grassy or heathy alpine areas. They resemble Carex species in habit, but have fruit with hooks that readily catch in clothes, hair and fur.
