| Persicaria
subsessilis (bristly knotweed or bristly waterpepper)
is a very rare, stout herb. It is only known from a couple
of areas along the Tamar River. It has horizontal stems
which curve up at the ends. The leaves are lanceolate to
very narrow elliptic, 6-15cm long by 8-23mm wide. The spikes
are elongate, 2-5cm by 5-8mm. A distinctive feature is the
way that the leaves and often the stems are covered in
erect, bristly hairs. |
