Drosera murfetii is similar in appearance to the more common and widespread D. arcturi but has 2-5 hairless leaves as well as 1-2 leaves fringed with glandular hairs. All leaves, up to 20cm long, are in a basal rosette. They are  linear to lanceolate or narrowly oblong. Flower stem is up to 20 cm long and bears 1–5 flowers; Petals are white. Flowering & fruiting Dec.– Mar.

Tas. endemic. Found from sea-level to high elevations in wet, peaty soils in heathland, sedgeland and similar habitats to D. arcturi to 1000 m elevation, often forming mixed populations with that species. More common and widespread than D. arcturi at low elevations in the southwest.
