Yellowish green leafy perennial often forming dense swards; Basal and stem leaves yellow-green, crescent-shaped.  Inflorescence 1-several branched, to 10 cm tall, each branch ending in a short raceme. Sepals green or blackish, silky-hairy. Petals white, 4 mm long. Seeds black, cylindrical. Flowering & fruiting Sep.–Dec.

Found in the midlands and the north-east in grasslands, open woodland and pasture, from sea level to 300 m.
