The Tasmanian Atriplex species comprise five native and four introduced species. Most of the species are commonly known as saltbush. They all occur in dry or salty habitats, including saltmarshes and coasts. They flowers are unisexual, and the species are often dioecious. The flowers are very small, but usually crowded into large compound inflorescences
