Lobelia gibbosa (Campanulaceae) 2:414

Lobelia gibbosa (tall lobelia) is an erect herb quite widespread from the coast to sub-alpine areas of the central plateau.  Stems can grow to 50 cm high, are succulent and frequently tinged with red. The lower halves of the stems wither and harden before the flowers open.
Flowers on small stalks are regularly spaced up the stem (raceme-like) with lower ones opening first.
