Lobelia anceps (angled lobelia) is a reasonably common species in saltmarshes and wet coastal heaths.  It is a low growing plant with stems that often root at the nodes. It has solitary flowers and relatively broad leaves than may be as much as 5cm long. The flowers are usually purple, but occasionally white.
