The
genus Pseudognaphalium has one native and one
introduced species in Tasmania. They are herbs with cottony
hairs and flower heads containing tube florets, each
with a pappus of barbellate hairs.
They are part of a group known as cudweeds.
The two species are almost impossible to distinguish unless
flowers are present. Until recently P. lanatum was
not recognised in Tasmania. Many of the plants previously
identified as P. luteoalbum and shown in the map
for that species, will probably be reclassified as P.
lanatum. |
