Vittadinia
australasica (coast new-holland-daisy) is a
very rare native herb in Tasmania. It is only known from a
single small population on the coast at Temma in the far
north-west. It is a much branched, annual or short-lived
perennial herb with small, quite conspicuous flower heads
which may be coloured white through to pink or mauve.
Its leaves are spoon-shaped and toothed and are larger as
they ascend the stems.
The Tasmanian plants belong to var. oricola.
It was considered extinct until 2001.
