| Gazania (Asteraceae) Not in the
Student's Flora |
At least two species of Gazania have become
naturalised in Tasmania; G. rigens and G.
x splendens.
The flowers are conspicuous. It is a common garden plant and
has become established along many roadsides. The leaves are
thick and woolly white below, but the upper surface varies
from green and glossy to woolly hairy and the shape varies
from linear to pinnately divided.
The taxonomy of these species is difficult to the existence
of a range of cultivars, and perhaps naturally hybridising
species.
